The 1670 Anniversary Inks recall the sea voyages of J. Herbin when he was travelling in the far east and discovered the famous gum which allowed him to manufacture wax. The all-new ink collection "1670" has been extended to now include 'Bleu Ocean' (deep blue) Ink in addition to the original 'Rouge Hematite' (dark red) Ink. The square 50 ml glass bottles both have hand-dipped wax seal caps and wax on the front of the bottle with 1670 imprinted in them - the Red Ink has a gold front wax emblem and the Blue Ink has a silver front wax emblem. Established in 1670, J. Herbin inks date back to the time of Louis XIV, making it the oldest ink brand in the world. M. Herbin created "The Jewel of Inks" in his shop on the Rue des Fosses Saint-Germain in Paris in 1700. That tradition survives today in vibrant calligraphy and fountain pen inks by J. Herbin.
