The company is best known for making the first school notebooks in France, and has become famous for their exceptional paper quality. Clairefontaine is currently the only European manufacturer making its own paper for its own products. All of Clairefontaine's Clothbound Notebooks include 90 g acid-free white paper, sewn cloth spine that matches the cover color, and a smooth satin paper finish.
