The Clairefontaine mill has been making paper since 1858 and stationery products since 1890. The company is best known for making the first school notebooks in France, and has become famous for their exceptional paper quality. Clairefontaine is currently the only European manufacturer making its own paper for its own products. This guarantees not only consistent quality, but also controls the environmental impact of the manufacturing process. All of Clairefontaine's Classic Notebooks and Notepads include 90 g acid-free white paper, laminated covers in assorted colors, and a smooth satin paper finish.

Clairefontaine makes the best paper around

These notebooks are affordable and very well made. The clothbound versions tend to be a little bit more durable but the staple bound versions are a great value. Clairefontaine paper is the best around - thick enough to handle fountain pens/ink, and very smooth.

In 1858, they began to produce their high quality paper in the beautiful Etival-Clairefontaine region of France. Only a few years later, their factory was the backbone of the region because of the quality and importance of their notebooks, envelopes and paper. To this day, Clairefontaine still produces the finest paper in the same factory, carrying along their tradition of quality for us, who deserve only the best.
