Christian Griffith, founder and designer of verve, says it best: "A year ago I discovered that many male yogis were wearing our women’s Leda Short for practice. Sure it was a bit tight in the crotch, they told me, but they were willing to put up with that for the comfortable smoothness of the waist and the close but not too tight fit of the seat. While I was impressed with their dedication to function, I decided to create a men’s short with that would maintain those aspects of the Leda that they liked, but have a more masculine look and fit. Recruiting a group of teacher trainees from Richard Freeman’s studio up the street, the design evolved through eight prototypes till we came up with a short that worked. We straightened the yoked waist of the Leda, but kept its smoothness. We used the same super soft yet durable cotton Lycra and relaxed fit, while we slightly lengthened the hem to end mid-thigh. The result: The perfect yoga short for men. The Hanoman."
Who's Hanoman? In Hinduism, Hanoman is the monkey god and helper of Rama; god of devotion and courage. Born of Vayu, the Wind, and the nymph Anjana, Hanoman is characterized by incredible agility, strength, and the ability to leap or fly and change form and size.
